The Aquaness ARSURF™ 9504 surfactant is a liquid, organic emulsifier. It is used in low gravity, asphaltic fuel and crude oils to assist in their production and transportation.  Asphaltic oils are normally classified as less than 20°API gravity, preferably less than 15°API. They are usually black, highly viscous, and tacky to the touch. It is used in systems producing at least 15% water, preferably about 30% water. Additional water can be added if not enough is present in the produced oil. ARSURF 9504 surfactant creates an oil-in-water emulsion which is much less viscous than the low gravity crude oil. The emulsion can then be produced and pipelined more easily, reducing both pumping and flowline pressures.
